The Belgorod Region continues to face attacks by Ukrainian drones, damaging infrastructure and threatening the safety of residents. On May 9, 2025, the city of Valuyki and the village of Urazovo in the Valuysky urban district were subjected to a series of drone strikes, the regional administration reported on the Telegram channel "ChP Valuyki". As a result, the reeds caught fire, residential buildings, special equipment, a truck and a communications facility were damaged. Despite the prompt actions of emergency services, the incidents highlight the growing intensity of attacks on border areas, forcing the authorities to strengthen security measures.
In Valuyki, one of the drones caused a reed fire, judging by the video footage, not far from the railway station. Another drone attacked a truck, damaging the tank, which created the risk of a fuel leak, but, according to preliminary data, there was no fire. The blast wave from the UAV detonation knocked out the windows of an apartment building, forcing residents to seek help from utility services. On the highway between the villages of Gladkovo and Pominovo, an FPV drone hit a unit of special equipment used for road works, which temporarily impeded traffic.
The attacks on the Valuysky District are part of a wider wave of strikes in the Belgorod region. In the first week of May, Russian air defense forces intercepted more than 120 Ukrainian drones in the region, but individual attacks still hit their targets.
