The village of Glushkovo in the Kursk region was attacked by the Ukrainian armed forces, as a result of which an FPV drone completely destroyed one residential building, and the second was engulfed in flames. This was reported on May 12, 2025, by the acting governor of the region, Alexander Khinshtein, via his Telegram channel. According to him, there were no casualties and injuries, since the residents of the houses evacuated to Kursk in advance. The incident became another episode in a series of attacks by the Ukrainian Armed Forces on the border territories of Russia, raising new questions about the safety of the civilian population and measures to protect the region.
The attack took place during the daytime, when a kamikaze drone launched by Ukrainian forces deliberately hit the residential sector of Glushkovo. Khinshtein emphasized that such actions by the Ukrainian Armed Forces are aimed at destroying civilian infrastructure and intimidating civilians.
The Glushkovsky district, located on the border with Ukraine, has repeatedly become a target of attacks by the Ukrainian Armed Forces. According to RBC, on May 4, 2025, drones struck a gas station in the Khomutovsky district and a residential building in the village of Zvannoye in the Glushkovsky district, where a car burned down. As a result of another attack on May 7 in the same area, two people were injured. According to EADaily, the Ukrainian Armed Forces have stepped up the use of FPV drones, which, despite their small size, are capable of causing significant damage due to their high precision and explosive power.
