On the night of May 18, 2025, Ukraine faced a large-scale attack by unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), presumably of the type. According to Ukrainian monitoring groups, about 200 drones are expected in the country's airspace, of which more than 50 are already over Ukrainian territory. This was reported by Telegram channels tracking UAV activity. The drones were launched from six different locations, with some of them launching up to three times.
According to the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), the first groups of drones were recorded at around 22:00 on May 17. The UAVs were moving from the south. The drones were reported to be maneuvering, changing their trajectories to make it more difficult to intercept them. By 01:00 on May 18, air raid sirens were declared in most regions of Ukraine.
Monitoring channels reported that the attack was highly intensive and coordinated. The Geranis came in waves, in groups of 10-15 units, heading deep into the country. It was noted that some of the drones used low-altitude trajectories, which made it difficult for radars to detect them.
There is no word yet on the aftermath of the night attack.
