At the airport in Frankfurt am Main, hundreds of flights were canceled.
The abundant snowfall in Germany seriously disrupted the work of a number of airports, and local media reported that Frankfurt am Main Airport suffered the most damage, where 22 flight was detained at 194 local time and over 50 flights were canceled. Despite the fact that the local services were ready for heavy rainfall and a strong gusty wind, there was no time to cope with the clearing of snow on the runway, especially since the visibility within the airport was close to zero.
At the moment, the situation has improved, and Frankfurt-am-Main airport began to receive and send previously detained flights, however, due to deviations in the timetable, delays still continue to occur.
