As new information becomes available about the attack on a large convoy in Burkina Faso on August 8, the situation becomes increasingly alarming. According to data from a Wamaps source, the JNIM group (Jamaat Nusrat al-Islam wa-l-Muslimin, recognized as terrorist and banned in Russia - editor's note), united in a detachment of several hundred people, attacked a convoy consisting of approximately 150 trucks and soldiers of the armed forces of Burkina Faso accompanying them.
It is reported that as a result of this attack the convoy was partially destroyed. According to unverified data, losses among Burkinabe soldiers amounted to more than 140 people. In addition, about 90 JNIM militants were reported killed. These figures, if confirmed, indicate the scale and brutality of the fighting that took place in this region.
The published materials provide additional details about the scope and impact of this attack.
