Military helicopter Mi-28 crashed in Leningrad region

On March 18, 2025, a military helicopter crashed in the Volosovsky District of the Leningrad Region, killing two people. This was reported by the Telegram channel "Baza", specifying that the incident occurred in a field near the village of Shugovitsy. At the moment, the circumstances and causes of the disaster remain unknown, and emergency services and investigators are working at the scene to find out what led to the tragedy.

According to preliminary data, the helicopter was flying normally, but suddenly lost control and crashed to the ground. Eyewitnesses who were near the crash site reported a loud impact and a column of smoke rising above the field. Information about the type of helicopter and its affiliation with a specific agency has not yet been disclosed, which makes it difficult to assess the scale of the incident. However, according to Avia.pro journalists, it was an Mi-28 helicopter. Representatives of the region's emergency services confirmed the fact of the crash, but refrained from commenting until the initial examination of the wreckage was completed.

Earlier, on January 1, a military Mi-28 helicopter crashed in the Voronezh Region, catching fire after falling in a field near the village of Kovalevo, killing two crew members. In that case, a possible technical malfunction was cited as the cause of the accident, but the Investigative Committee continues to investigate. A similar incident occurred in July 2024 in the Kaluga Region, where an Mi-28 crashed during a scheduled flight, which also resulted in the death of the crew. Experts note that the increasing number of military vehicle crashes may be due to equipment wear and tear or control errors, although final conclusions require detailed analysis.
