In the Moscow region, near the village of Vatulino, there was an air crash, as a result of which test pilot Alexander Ivanov, known for his many years of work with the passenger aircraft "Superjet", died. The crash occurred during a test flight on the amphibious aircraft "Alex-251", which was carried out after repairs. There were two people on board, both died.
A test pilot with over 33 years of experience, Alexander Ivanov was a legend in the aviation industry. During his career, he mastered 25 different types of aircraft, from crop dusters to modern fourth-generation fighters. One of his most significant achievements was his participation in the Superjet test program, which he tested for strength and reliability in the most difficult conditions. Ivanov dedicated 12 years to this work, making 866 flights on the Superjet, testing the aircraft in various modes and conditions, from extreme temperatures to airborne strength tests.
One of the most famous moments of his career came in 2011, when Ivanov performed a complex aerobatic maneuver on a Superjet - a barrel roll, which was unique for a passenger airliner. This maneuver demonstrated the high level of the pilot's skill and the capabilities of the aircraft.
