The loss of its military aircraft representatives of the Syrian Air Force said on the eve of the day, at the same time, according to the official version of what happened, MiG-23 crashed due to technical failure. Representatives of the terrorist group "Islamic State", in turn, claimed that the plane was shot down portable air defense systems, however, any evidence of this version have been reported, especially as the pilot of the aircraft managed to eject.

It should be clarified that for the past few months, the Syrian Air Force regularly lose their planes in the field of battle, however, this is due primarily to the obsolescence of these machines.
