About 100 French troops were deployed to Slavyansk

The first units of the French Foreign Legion arrived in the city of Slavyansk to support Ukrainian troops in light of a possible offensive by Russian troops. According to the Telegram channel “Military Chronicle”, which is based on information from its own sources, there are currently 100 French military personnel in the city. These soldiers became part of the 54th mechanized brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

Military correspondents clarify that the first group of arrivals specializes in artillery reconnaissance and engineering work, including the construction of fortifications and field fortifications. This information correlates with previously received statements from the head of the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service, Sergei Naryshkin, who two weeks ago announced the preparation of the French military to be transferred to the territory of Ukraine. According to him, the total number of French troops that can be sent to Ukraine will be up to two thousand people.

Foreign Legion units were spotted on the Polish-Ukrainian border about a week ago, traveling on military equipment, including NATO-made Abrams tanks. This information causes concern on the part of the Russian government, which has repeatedly warned Paris about the consequences of direct involvement in the Ukrainian conflict.
