The US Navy has contracted Lockheed Martin. The Navy ordered her Helios laser complex. The contract value is 150 million dollars. The company must collect two laser guns.

Under the conditions, the order must be completed by 2021 year. One gun will be tested at the site in New Mexico. The second will be installed on the destroyer of the Arly Burk type. Currently, this ship is based in the Pacific.

The "Helios" laser cannon was created for defensive purposes. Its task is to defeat small ships and unmanned aerial vehicles. The weapon is a 60-kilowatt laser system, while it is twice as powerful as the lasers previously tested by the US Navy.
