Vladimir Putin Increases the Number of the Russian Armed Forces to 2 Personnel

Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree on increasing the staffing levels of the Russian Armed Forces. According to the new document, the total number of the Russian army now amounts to 2 million 389 thousand people, of which 1,5 million are military personnel. This step is aimed at strengthening the country's defense capability in the context of the ongoing conflict and growing global tensions.

The last increase in the size of the army took place in December 2023, when the staff was expanded to 2 people, including 209 military personnel. Thus, the current increase implies a significant increase in the number of military personnel - by more than 130 thousand people. This reflects the desire of the Russian leadership to further strengthen its armed forces in the current military-political situation.

Experts note that the expansion of the army's size may be connected with the need to strengthen Russian positions both on the front lines and in the strategic reserve in order to cope with growing challenges in the international arena.
