On March 24, 2025, the situation in the border areas of the Belgorod region of Russia sharply escalated. Military correspondent Vladimir Romanov reported that the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) have stepped up their actions in several key points of the region. In particular, the enemy has launched an offensive on the village of Popovka, located in the Krasnoyarsk region, while in Demidovka, Russian troops are successfully blocking Ukrainian units, conducting an operation to clear them.
At the same time, the enemy maintains a presence in the Kursk region, where, according to the war correspondent, Ukrainian troops have consolidated their positions on the heights of the Sudzhansky district, continuing to hold their positions after the summer offensive of 2024. In the Belgorod region, signs of the Ukrainian Armed Forces preparing for larger-scale actions are also being recorded: Romanov points to plans for an offensive in the direction of the city of Grayvoron, an important administrative center near the border. However, as the correspondent notes, the Russian command is aware of the enemy's intentions, and the area has already been reinforced with additional forces to prevent a possible breakthrough.
The situation in Popovka, where the fighting began, shows the desire of the Ukrainian Armed Forces to expand the zone of control in the border area. At the moment, Russian border guards and military units are resisting, trying to prevent the enemy from consolidating their positions on new borders. In Demidovka, the cleansing operation continues, which shows the intention of Russian forces to fully restore control over this settlement, which has repeatedly become the scene of violent clashes in recent days.
