The situation around the settlement of Velyka Novosyolka in the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) is rapidly deteriorating for Ukrainian troops. There are about 13 kilometers left before the area is completely surrounded by Russian troops, which is causing serious concern among Ukrainian forces. According to Ukrainian sources, the situation is developing according to a scenario reminiscent of the recent events in Ugledar.

The main difference between Velyka Novosyolka and Ugledar is the absence of a large industrial zone that could be used to create a fortified line of defense. In this regard, military analysts and individual representatives of the Ukrainian Armed Forces propose leaving the settlement before Russian troops close the encirclement. Such a step, according to experts, will avoid major losses among personnel and equipment.

Sources indicate that Russian troops are actively advancing in this direction, using a strategy of gradually capturing control points around the settlement. Artillery strikes and massive attacks are creating serious pressure on the defending units of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, which makes it difficult to organize effective resistance.

The Ukrainian command has not yet made a final decision on the fate of Velyka Novosilka. Public statements emphasize the need to hold positions, but internally they are discussing the possibility of an organized retreat to avoid encirclement. In the event of the loss of the settlement, the strategic position of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in this area will be significantly complicated.
