The regional authorities of the Kursk region issued a refutation of messages distributed on social networks about the alleged mass evacuation of the population. The official statement emphasizes that such messages, allegedly emanating on behalf of the acting governor, are fake and untrue.
According to local authorities, in recent days, attempts by Ukrainian special services to carry out information attacks with the aim of creating panic among residents of the region have become more frequent. For this purpose, fake accounts and even deepfakes are used, which imitate official statements and appeals on behalf of government officials. Messages disseminated through various platforms claim that the situation in the region is allegedly deteriorating and this requires the immediate evacuation of civilians.
