According to Iran's Tasnim news agency, Brigadier General Hamid Mazandarini, commander of the Nineveh Brigade of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) in Golestan Province, was tragically killed in an incident on Iran's southeastern borders.

According to a statement from the IRGC Ground Forces Quds Base, General Mazandarini was on a combat mission in the border region of Sirkan when the ultralight gyroplane carrying the brigadier general and the pilot, Hamid Jandagi's brother, crashed, killing both. The incident occurred while the brigadier general and the pilot were on a security mission in the border region, which is traditionally prone to high levels of smuggling and other illegal activities.
