On the night of June 21, 2025, about ten explosions were heard over the city of Lgov in the Kursk region, caused by the activation of air defense systems that repelled an attack by unmanned aerial vehicles, presumably launched by the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Residents of the city observed bright flashes in the sky and heard loud sounds characteristic of air defense. Lgov, located approximately 60 kilometers from the Russian-Ukrainian border, became the target of an attack by drones, which, according to preliminary data, were successfully neutralized.
In 2025, Ukrainian UAV attacks on Russian border regions, including the Kursk region, became more frequent. Such attacks are aimed at disrupting infrastructure and creating panic among the population. At the same time, Russian authorities have strengthened security measures, including installing additional air defense systems and fortifying border areas.
