Yandex.Maps has introduced new security measures by blurring satellite images of a number of military installations in Russia. Users have discovered that at least 10 strategically important installations are no longer displayed with clear details on maps, including airfields and air bases that have previously been attacked.
In particular, the images of Kamensk-Uralsky airport in the Sverdlovsk region, Rtishchevo airfield in the Samara region, Engels airfield in the Saratov region, as well as the Dyagilevo airbase in Ryazan and Borisoglebsk airfield in the Voronezh region are blurred. Airfields located in the suburbs of Maykop and on the Crimean peninsula are also now hidden from detailed viewing. According to information, objects such as Dyagilevo, Engels and Borisoglebsk were attacked by Ukrainian drones, which is probably the reason for the increased security measures.
Blurred images can make it difficult for external sources to access detailed information about these objects and minimize potential risks of strategic data leaks.
