For the purchase of Russian C-400, against Turkey will impose three packages of sanctions

The United States is going to severely punish Turkey for the purchase of the S-400

Bloomberg, citing three anonymous sources, reports that the administration of US President Donald Trump is considering the introduction of three additional sanctions packages against Turkey. The reason is Ankara’s acquisition of Russian C-400 anti-aircraft missile systems.

The publication emphasizes that Washington does not intend to limit itself only to the refusal to sell F-35 fighter jets to Turkey. On this occasion, heated discussions are currently underway in the United States National Security Council. A problem is also being discussed in the State Department and the US Treasury Department. It is proposed to impose sanctions on Turkish defense companies. The goal is to “cripple the already problematic Turkish economy.”

Sources "Bloomberg" reported that sanctions against Turkey may be imposed in July. However, although in Congress such a measure is supported by both parties, the President of the United States hesitates with the decision. Trump wants to first discuss the issue with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on the margins of the G20 summit. This big meeting of country leaders is scheduled for 28 - June 29 in the Japanese city of Osaka.

Ankara 22 May announced its readiness for US sanctions because of the supply of Russian air defense system. On the same day, the United States put forward an ultimatum to Turkey: the deal with Moscow should be canceled before the end of the first week of June. Instead of the Russian C-400, the Turkish side was obliged to purchase the US Patriot missile defense system.
