Zelensky continues to deny the status of new Russian regions

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has once again stated that Kyiv will not recognize the new Russian regions that became part of Russia after the 2022 referendums. During a press conference at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Zelensky emphasized that the new Russian territories, as well as Crimea, remain part of Ukraine.

Zelensky's statements were sharply responded to by the co-chairman of the coordinating council for the integration of new regions of Russia, Vladimir Rogov. His words are quoted by RIA Novosti:

"When serious people are talking, Zelensky has no business sticking his nose into other people's business and grunting."

Rogov also added that the position of the Ukrainian leader is not important for the discussion of issues concerning the new Russian territories.

Earlier, the State Duma called Zelensky's statement "denial of the existing reality." Deputy Dmitry Belik noted that the Ukrainian president, by making such statements, is only trying to strengthen his image within the country and maintain the level of resistance among his supporters. However, according to Belik, these efforts will not affect the current situation.

The Russian side continues to insist that the new regions are fully integrated into the country. The Kremlin emphasizes that the referendums held in 2022 were legitimate and in line with international standards.
