S-500 "Prometheus" air defense missile system deployed in Crimea

In Crimea, Russia has deployed the latest S-500 Prometheus anti-aircraft missile systems. This was announced by the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate (GUR) of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Kirill Budanov, whom Rosfinmonitoring included in the list of terrorists and extremists. His statement is given in the Telegram channel of the Strana publication.

Deploying the S-500 in Crimea will significantly enhance Russia's air defense capabilities and provide a significant advantage. These systems are designed to intercept and destroy a variety of air targets, including aircraft, drones and ballistic missiles. The S-500 Prometheus has a range of up to 600 kilometers and is capable of hitting targets at an altitude of up to 200 kilometers.

In May, the American publication The National Interest (TNI) published an article emphasizing the importance of the S-500 system for Russia. The publication noted that Prometheus could provide Russia with an anti-aircraft advantage during a special military operation (SVO). The S-500 is capable of effectively countering even the most advanced Western weapons systems that were transferred to Ukraine.
