AeroJet SD-2 Overseer - US military unmanned aerial vehicle developed in 1959, the company «Aerojet General».

Work on the design of an unmanned aerial vehicle model AeroJet SD-2 Overseer was deployed in the second half of the 50s of the last century. This aircraft was intended for conducting reconnaissance of the terrain, searching for enemy aircraft, and could also be used as a target drone. Despite the high prospects of this aircraft for its era, the drone was never able to be used in the US Armed Forces, which was primarily due to a number of technical shortcomings of this device.

The first flight of the unmanned aerial vehicle of the AeroJet SD-2 Overseer model took place in 1959, while most of the tests were completed with a befitting distinction, however, due to the weak development of unmanned technologies, there were obvious problems with the control of the radio-controlled vehicle, which, perhaps, and is the only problem with this drone.

For its time, an unmanned aerial vehicle model AeroJet SD-2 Overseer has small dimensions - at a length of the drone in 4,9 meter span of the wings of the UAV 4,06 meters, which makes the device extremely maneuverable.

Powerplant UAV AeroJet SD-2 Overseer represented by one four-cylinder piston brand Lycoming LIO-360-B1B, which is having a capacity of 225 hp drone allowed to accelerate to the maximum speed of its flight in 540 km \ h. However, duration of stay in the autonomous air confined 45 minutes.
