Construction of an air harbor at the site of the current Belgrade International Airport. Nikola Tesla began in 1958 and continued until 1962 year. After the break-up of Yugoslavia into individual states, the Belgrade International Airport. Nikola Tesla got a new life, which had a favorable effect on his development. In 2002, the number of passengers serviced in the air harbor increased to 1,6 million passengers, in 2007 - to 2,5 million passengers, and in 2017 to 5,34 million passengers.
