Airport Naryan-Mar is an air transport unit joint deployment of civilian and military aircraft to the location in the Nenets Autonomous District.

History

The first aircraft began to fly to Naryan-Mar in January 1933. The first land airfield began to build in 1940 year. Construction works were not sponsored by the state, but were carried out using the folk construction method (Saturday and Sunday). It was expected that in the 41 year, they would still allocate funds, however, constant delays constantly suspended the process. Since the beginning of the war, the construction of the airfield has become a priority in the Nenets Autonomous District. The initiator is the first secretary of the regional committee and city committee Kuzin S. 

The airfield of Naryan-Mar began to be operated in October 1941 of the year. At that time, he was attached to the 772-th Air Base of the White Sea Flotilla. Aircraft from Amderma and Naryan-Mar carried out reconnaissance flights over the Arctic. 

Runway length m 900 1200 m built in the district of the House of Soviets. In 1943, the airport began a new phase of construction.

Modernization was proceeding at a rapid pace. Drainage ditches were laid, the airfield was drained, sand was covered with swampy areas, wooden fences of 2000 m length were made, a command post and tree-land shelter for aircraft were erected. In 50-th year at the airport built 4 house for the services of the squadron. In 1952, there was a large flood, resulting in the addition of built buildings for the hotel, the transportation department, a house on 8 apartments and a shelter for repairing equipment. In December, the first An-2 plane landed at the airport. In 55-th year in "Naryan-Mar" radar P-10 entered, with the help of which it was possible to hear and see all aircraft within a radius of 60-60 km. In 56-th year in the air squad entered the hydro-An-2 - An-2V.

At the airport, a pier was built on the lake of logs and logs. A modern airfield was built at the end of the 60s at the request of the Ministry of Defense. Initially, the runway was covered with American steel strips, but later the runway was covered with PAG-14 Soviet steel plates. 

Since 1981, the airport is used as a passenger. In October 81-year put into use of the terminal, which has been adapted to accommodate the auxiliary services. In June, 93-year opened a new terminal building.

Incidents

1. In 1997, there was a collision between An-12 and Mi-8.

2. In 2012, on August 1, the Yak-42 plane of the Utair company, which was flying from Moscow to Naryan-Mar, rolled out of the runway during landing. Out of 104 people, no one was hurt.

3. In 2013, on December 21, the ATR-42 aircraft of the "Nordstar" company (46 people on board), flying from Naryan-Mar to Arkhangelsk, returned back for landing during takeoff from the airfield. The reason for the return was the failed left engine. Passengers and crew members were not injured.

4. In 2014, on December 22, the Kotekavia Tu-134, after landing, left the runway and turned 90 degrees. The aircraft flew along the route Perm - Naryan-Mar. Of the 57 people, no one was hurt.
