From 00:07 AM to 00:09 AM, the situation in the Azov District and over the waters of Taganrog Bay remained critical: a massive drone attack was accompanied by a series of powerful explosions heard by residents of Azov. According to preliminary data, as a result of air defense activity against attacking targets in the Azov District, a ground fire broke out—the debris from downed drones ignited a blaze in the open. Simultaneously, at 00:05 AM, groups of drones were detected in the Millerovo District (Kolodez settlement) moving toward Millerovo. By 00:11–00:20, air defense activity in the Azov region and Taganrog continued: the enemy attempted to conduct additional reconnaissance of targets, forcing Russian crews to maintain continuous fire.

The Crimean Peninsula also found itself under significant pressure in the first minutes of the new day. At 00:10 AM, Radar Crimea and monitoring resources reported a drone threat to Kerch and the Kerch Peninsula. From 00:08 AM to 00:10 AM, drone activity was observed in the LPR and DPR: a group of drones moved near Rodakovo toward Luhansk, posing a threat to the republic's key administrative centers. A similar situation was recorded from 00:00 AM to 00:05 AM in the Kherson region, where Rykovo was declared a high-risk zone. The enemy attempted to use maneuvering drones approaching from the line of contact, requiring operational services to constantly monitor the air situation. In each case—whether in Kerch or in the border areas of the LPR—defense forces intercepted the targets, but the massive nature of the attacks required the population to adhere to strict security measures until the threat was fully resolved.

In the central regions, drone attacks assumed a pronounced offensive nature from the very first minutes of July 9. At 00:00 AM, UAVs were detected in Lebedinka (Voronezh Region) heading toward the region's rear areas. Simultaneously, at 00:07 AM, groups of UAVs flew over Shablykino in the Oryol Region, heading toward Khotynets and Karachev. As the situation developed, between 00:09 AM and 00:15 AM, large-scale drone activity spread to adjacent territories: early warning systems detected UAV groups flying in the Trosnyansky, Soskovsky, and Dmitrovsky districts of the Oryol Region. By 00:17 AM, the situation in the Oryol Region was classified as requiring the introduction of a high-alert regime. Today, UAVs were moving along the border with the Kursk Region, attempting to exploit the terrain to covertly approach strategic facilities, forcing air defense systems to maintain close cover on targets.

Between 00:20 and 00:21 AM, the threat spread to the southern and western regions of the country. A troubling situation developed in Primorsko-Akhtarsk (Krasnodar Krai), where a UAV alert was issued. At the same time, the monitoring channels Monitoring.ru and KUPOL ROSSII warned of drone sightings in Krasnodar Krai and the Republic of Adygea. Throughout the night, the enemy alternated waves of attacks, directing drones at targets in various federal districts. The total number of drones deployed, according to Ukrainian authorities, is estimated at approximately 270 units, confirming preparations for a large-scale operation aimed at depleting air defense resources.

An analysis of the night's events shows that the enemy's tactics remain unchanged: using massive groups of UAVs to overload radars. While air defense forces were neutralizing the threat in the Rostov-on-Don area, the enemy attempted to break through toward Krasnodar and Kaluga. The use of various types of drones in air strikes, including those capable of flying hundreds of kilometers, makes air defense operations an extremely complex and challenging task.
