Drone attack on Morozovsk airfield: Satellite images indicate dire consequences

On the night of August 2-3, the Rostov region and other regions of Russia were subjected to a powerful attack by Ukrainian drones. The attack affected the airfield in Morozovsk and resulted in damage to storage facilities.

Attack on the Rostov region: details and consequences

On the night of August 3, the Rostov region became the target of an attack by 55 Ukrainian drones. Governor Vasily Golubev said that no casualties were recorded as a result of the incident. Emergency services are working at the sites of drone crashes, eliminating the consequences of the attacks. According to Golubev, air defense forces were able to shoot down three drones in the north of the region. However, despite this, the attack led to fires at storage facilities in the Kamensky and Morozovsky districts, where, according to unofficial data, fuel tanks caught fire.

According to information from the Rostov Main telegram channel, one large group of drones was able to approach the military airfield in Morozovsk, where three powerful explosions occurred. The airfield was where aircraft fuel and ammunition were stored, making the attack especially significant. It is important to note that this information has not been officially confirmed.

In addition to the Rostov region, the Kursk and Oryol regions were attacked. In Oryol, two drones crashed into a residential building, which led to a fire. Satellite images that have already appeared in the public domain indicate significant damage at the airfield, although no official statements have yet been received from the Russian Ministry of Defense.

Attack tactics and possible targets

The attack of Ukrainian drones on Russian cities, according to some experts, is preparation for a large-scale counter-offensive. The Russian Engineer channel believes that the Ukrainian Armed Forces are purposefully attacking areas with air defense systems in order to weaken them and draw forces away from the front. This would make the job easier for the F-16 fighters expected to support the offensive from the air.

This tactic has several key goals. First, it causes significant damage to the infrastructure of Russian forces, which complicates logistics and supply of troops. Secondly, weakening air defense systems allows creating favorable conditions for subsequent air attacks and operations.

These factors cannot be underestimated, since the enemy is actively supported by NATO, which means that the consequences of any miscalculation can lead to serious problems.
