  • Time of the crash: 13:06

  • Country of the crash: the USSR

  • Location of the crash: Airport St. Petersburg (Pulkovo)

  • aircraft Brand: Tu-154B-1

  • Registration of aircraft: SSSR85097

  • Name of air carrier: Aeroflot (USSR)

  • Subdivision: Leningrad CAA, 1-th of Leningrad

  • Flight: 8556

Chronology of events:

The highest vertical speed of descent at a distance of 150 to the end of the strip was 7 m / s, and the smallest pitch angle was 4-5 degrees per dive. The RLE of the Tu-154 at the same time prohibits all vertical maneuvers after the passage of the BPRM and does not advise changing the engine revolutions more than by 5 percent during landing. Significant re-rebalancing of the aircraft significantly narrowed the likelihood of its stabilization in the final approach segment, which could also be influenced by the effect of the rainfall on the visual assessment of the position of the aircraft by the pilots. The crew for 2,5 seconds from touching at a height of approximately 20 m from the ground at a vertical speed of descent 7 m / s, realizing the danger of a rough landing, fully took the helm “over” (the elevator deflected all the way to the conning — 29 °) almost simultaneously the operating mode of the engine to take-off mode (at the time of the contact, the revolutions increased to 75 percent on the KVD). A positive increase in vertical overload appeared, the pitch angle became larger by 8 degrees with an angular speed of pitch up to 2,2 degrees per second.

At instrument speed 250 km / h in 13: 06: 13, the plane landed on the blind area of the PBC, which has a counter inclination of 3 degrees with almost no roll, with a course 100 degrees, with a slight (approximately 1 degree) negative pitch angle in relation to the blind area of the CPB with a vertical 7 m / s descent rate. The first contact took place on the front landing gear (for 6,3 m to the strip), then the main landing gear supports (for 9,9-13,2 m to the strip). During rough landing, the vertical overload was no less than 4,5 units, which is greater than the destructive value. The destruction of the fuselage in the area of 49-53 frames in its upper part took place. Broken chassis. Further destruction of the aircraft took place under the influence of off-design loads as it moves along the concrete strip and along the ground. The fuselage broke into three parts. The tail part of the lane stopped right turned in the direction of flight. The central part of the fuselage with a center section and a partially separated cockpit stopped in the 80 and to the left of the strip on the ground, also with a right turn. There was no fire. 13 passengers, including 2 children, died. The commander and 37 passengers were seriously injured.
