Business jets - types and popular brands of business jets in business aviation

Private business jets

In less than a hundred years, passenger aviation has undergone global changes. If at the beginning of their formation few people used air transport, now the ability to quickly move from one point to another was appreciated by all categories of the population. About half a century ago, an additional category of aviation, business, began to develop separately. Its main task is to create the most comfortable conditions for the passenger, who can choose the departure time and book a flight to a specific airport. The high level of business aviation services is also supported by the use of special aircraft - business jets, which were originally designed specifically for wealthy passengers.

Features of business jets

Business jets are airplanes used by private airlines or the owner of a vehicle to fly on an individual schedule. Most of these aircraft are created from scratch specifically for the needs of wealthy clients. Although a number of aircraft, after significant modifications, can also perform the role business jet.

There are several main differences between the jet and the aircraft involved in regular passenger flights:

  • Small passenger capacity. Most aircraft belonging to this category are capable of carrying from 5 to 19 passengers. Although there are several models with a capacity of up to 100 people, they are usually used as long-haul, and their passengers are sports teams, members of one large public organization, politicians and officials with an extended staff of service personnel;
  • Equipping the aircraft with the most modern technical equipment. Business jets use the latest navigation systems, innovative avionics, there are complexes that show the slightest deviations in the operation of electronics. All this is intended to ensure that the flight takes place in a comfortable environment and is completely safe;
  • Special flight performance. Most aircraft business aviation are able to take off from shortened runways and land at airports where there are no conditions for receiving civil aviation passenger airliners;
  • Optimal noise protection system - in the passenger compartment, passengers practically do not hear the noise from running engines;
  • The salons are distinguished by an increased level of comfort. Passenger seats are often made using expensive materials; they can be folded out and rotated. Some of the seats in the cabin can be replaced with a fold-out sofa. On board the majority of business jets, there is a separate kitchen area, a bathroom, a spacious luggage compartment, and multimedia systems. Leaders of large corporations and officials often book charter flights on those planes that have a separate meeting room for holding meetings and working with office equipment.

On board business jets, you can order an individual menu and alcoholic drinks. The most elite models have a separate sleeping room. Buyers of business jets can order the interior trim and equipment according to their taste and needs.

Private jet use cases

Business aviation uses business jets in different ways. The most widespread and demanded is aircraft rental by a private person for one or several flights. The customer selects the type of jet, its capacity, and the level of service. The operator, taking into account all wishes, develops a route and assigns a departure date, having previously agreed with the client.

Business jets are often bought by owners of large corporations for their own needs or for organizing flights for their team members. Not many can afford such a luxurious purchase, since in addition to the purchase costs, you will have to constantly deduct money for the maintenance of the liner, its parking and for the salaries of pilots and personnel. Very often, the owners of private planes partially transfer the rights to use it to aviation brokers, which partially allows them to cover the costs.

Business jets used by private airlines can also be used with Jet Sharing and Empty Legs systems. Ordinary citizens can also take advantage of such programs, since chairlift renting an aircraft is much cheaper than renting a whole ship. But at the same time, passengers are in the same conditions, that is, they fly in the most comfortable environment and directly to their destination.

Types of business jets

Business jets, despite the similarity in flight performance, are subdivided into 3 main categories:

  • Ultralight and lightweight. They are characterized by a small range of non-stop flight - up to 2-3 thousand km. The cabin capacity is mainly 5-9 passengers;
  • Medium-haul. They can cover up to 5-6 thousand km without refueling. The average speed is 800 km / h, and the capacity in some models reaches 20 people;
  • Long-haul. Designed for flight without refueling up to 9-10 thousand kilometers or more. The cabin comfortably accommodates 30-50 people, but there are models with a larger capacity.

Popular brands and manufacturers

Aircraft that are in demand in business aviation are produced by aviation concerns of the USA, European countries, and England. The most popular brands, including in the Russian space, are:

  • CESSNA. Manufactured by the American company Cessna Aircraft Company. CESSNA business jets are available in the Citation series. The average flight range of all models is 3 thousand km, the capacity is from 4 to 12 passengers;
  • BOMBARDIER. Business jets of the third most popular aircraft manufacturer - Bombardier Aerospace. Affluent customers appreciate the Global Express model, which can cover the distance from Tokyo to New York without refueling. The Challenger 300 family aircraft is considered a mid-size business jet, and the Learjet 8 and 70 are the smallest ones with a capacity of up to 75 passengers;
  • EMBRAER. The product of the Brazilian aviation concern. The first model for business aviation, the Legacy 600, was released not so long ago - in 2002. The flight range of the EMBRAER aircraft is from 1 to 5 thousand km. The largest business jet of the company is considered to be Lineage 1000. The cabin can comfortably accommodate up to 19 passengers, and this model is designed for long-haul flights;
  • GULFSTREAM. The brand name is associated with the production of long-haul aircraft. The first model G5 with a capacity of 14 passengers can travel more than 8 thousand km without refueling, but now the manufacturer is also producing more powerful business jets.

In business aviation, other brands of business jets are also used for private flights - Beechcraft, Dassault, Airbus, Boeing. Such a wide selection allows you to easily select an aircraft for the needs of a particular client.

VIP terminals in Moscow serving business jets

Departures on business jets at a number of airports are organized from separate terminals. In Moscow, these are:

  • Vnukovo-3. Consists of a terminal for domestic and international flights. Next to the main building there is a heliport for receiving and dispatching private aircraft;
  • Domodedovo - Business Aviation Center. Located away from the main airport. There is a guarded parking lot for cars, separate meeting rooms;
  • Sheremetyevo. VIP lounges are located in the main airport terminal, but only business jet passengers or wealthy clients can get into them.

VIP terminals provide an opportunity for almost instant check-in for a flight. Business aviation customers do not have to spend time in queues or arrive at the airport in advance. They can also negotiate, relax or spend time in bars in the VIP terminal. Air carriers organize transfers and provide a personal manager who controls every stage of the flight.
