The twin-engine Boeing 767-400 ER is a passenger wide-body airliner developed by Boeing Commercial Airplanes. This aircraft is intended for medium and long haul airlines.

The aircraft is capable of accommodating 245 passengers in three classes. In a two-class cabin configuration, the number of passenger seats is 304 seats. With the maximum, economical cabin configuration, the Boeing 767-400ER is capable of taking on board 375 people. The interior of the passenger compartment is similar to that used on the Boeing 777 airliner.

Preliminary design work to create an extended version of the Boeing 767-300 began at the end of 1996. Officially, the extension of the new aircraft, which received the designation Boeing 767-400 ER, was announced in January 1997. The fuselage of the new Boeing 767-400ER is 6,43 meters longer than its predecessor, the Boeing 767-300. The Boeing 767-400ER is 61,37 meters long. As a result of the increase in the length of the fuselage, the wingspan was increased, which on the Boeing 767-400ER is 51,92 meters, with its area of 306,30 square meters. The wing of the aircraft has wingtips sloping back. This form of tips has improved fuel efficiency and increased the airliner's climb rate. Due to the increase in the airframe design, the Boeing 767-400ER was equipped with a reinforced chassis.

The first flight of the new airliner took place on October 9, 1999. The test program involved four Boeing 767-400ER aircraft.
