Bombardier Learjet 55 - American twin-engine turbojet aircraft administrative class, is the only completed projects 50-series aircraft of this type.

For the first time, the Bombardier Learjet 55 business jet was presented in 1977 at the international air show held in Le Bourget, however, the aircraft entered serial production only in 1979. Up to 10 people can be accommodated on board an administrative-type aircraft, and only two crew members are required to operate the aircraft - the pilot and his assistant. The aircraft cabin expanded after the previous versions was of great interest to businessmen from different countries of the world, however, the production model within 7 years was replaced by another one more adaptable to the existing business, as a result of which a modification was born, which received the name Bombardier Learjet 55B.

The emergence of Bombardier Learjet 55 was mainly owe earlier developments 54-th model - odinadtsatimestnogo business jet, which never went into production because of a number of factors, among which are the technical imperfections, as well as an excessively large costs.

The Bombardier Learjet 55B had several advantages over the base model, among which were an increased flight distance, improved technical characteristics, and the cockpit, separated from the passenger compartment by transparent glass. However, the improved version did not take root among customers, and in the end only 8 aircraft of this model were produced, while 126 aircraft were produced for the base model.

Literally a year later, after the release of the 55B model, another modification of the business jet appeared - the Bombardier Learjet 55C, which is distinguished not only by its modified external design, but also by additional elements located on the fuselage, which reduce the approach speed and allow better stabilization of the aircraft during flight. The aircraft cabin, like the previous version, did not receive any changes compared to the base model.

Almost simultaneously with the appearance of Bombardier Learjet 55C, there were and still are two modifications - Bombardier Learjet 55C \ ER and Bombardier Learjet 55C \ LR, differ mainly in the highest possible flight range by increasing the fuel tanks.

Nevertheless, all modifications following the main production model did not find success, which is why the developers began to design a new business jet - the Bombardier Learjet 56, however, due to problems that arose, not a single aircraft of this type appeared.

Currently, the Bombardier Learjet 55 is used mostly as a private jet, however, a number of airlines around the world also offer passenger transportation services on it.
