Plane T-50 was the first twin-engined aircraft, manufactured by the company, and was built in the five-seater version for the civil market. Received the designation AT-17, this training aircraft was ordered by the following parties: 223 aircraft AT-17, 466 aircraft AT-17V and 60 aircraft AT-17, each of which differed by small changes in equipment. In 1942, the US Air Force decided that this Cessna aircraft could also be useful in the original role that the manufacturer intended for it, and so 1287 C-78 aircraft were also bought (later the designation was changed to UC-78) "Bobcast "(Bobcast), and from the end of 1942, 2100 additional AT-17C / D aircraft were also built in the transport modification.

Finally, the US Navy also acquired 67 in general purpose modification mainly for transportation-peregonschikov pilots, giving the aircraft designation of JRC-1.
