USA

A type: twin-engine trainer and light transport aircraft

Capacity: two pilots, arranged in a row, in a training or modifying one pilot and four passengers in the modification of light transport aircraft

Plane T-50 was the first twin-engined aircraft, manufactured by the company, and was built in the five-seater version for the civil market. Royal Canadian Air Force was selected for the alteration of an aircraft with one pilot in the version with two pilots within 12 months from the date of the first flight of the prototype. 550 aircraft "Crane» (Crane - Crane) IA, obtaining such a designation were supplied under Lend-Lease for flight training Commonwealth Plan.

Following the Canadian initiative at the end of 1940, the US Air Force also purchased 33 T-50 aircraft (under the designation AT-8) for flight evaluation and after extensive tests placed an order for 450 aircraft. These aircraft differed from the first AT-8 aircraft by the less powerful star-shaped R-755-9 (245 hp) engine of Jacobs, installed instead of the R-680-9 (295 hp) engine of the same Manufacturer. Received the designation AT-17, this training aircraft was ordered by the following parties: 223 aircraft AT-17, 466 aircraft AT-17V and 60 aircraft AT-17, each of which differed by small changes in equipment. In 1942, the US Air Force decided that this Cessna aircraft could also be useful in the original role that the manufacturer intended for it, and so 1287 C-78 aircraft were also bought (later the designation was changed to UC-78) "Bobcast "(Bobcast), and from the end of 1942, 2100 additional AT-17C / D aircraft were also built in the transport modification.

Finally, the US Navy also acquired 67 in general purpose modification mainly for transportation-peregonschikov pilots, giving the aircraft designation of JRC-1. Today in North America can still be found a small number of airworthy aircraft T-50, served previously as part of the US Air Force and the Royal Canadian Air Force.
