Domodedovo passenger terminal area expands

Moscow Domodedovo Airport starts building the second segment of the passenger terminal, which will increase the capacity of the passenger terminal, and improve service levels.

Domodedovo is confidently leading among the largest airports in Europe, demonstrating the highest growth rate of passenger traffic. According to the report of the European branch of the International Airport Association (ACI Europe) at the end of June, it was 12,8%. The annual positive dynamics of traffic volume is a consequence of the development of the route network of airport partners, the involvement of new airlines in cooperation, the introduction of advanced technologies and the improvement of the service component. It is obvious that the processes of growth in the number of passengers and airport development are dependent and occur in parallel.

Moscow Domodedovo Airport has signed a contract for the construction of the second segment of the passenger terminal, the term of completion - December 2016g. At the end of the work area of the passenger terminal will nearly double in the 235 000 m2 and taking into account the implementation of the current project to expand the first segment of the terminal will be almost 500 000 m2.

The Domodedovo terminal area expansion project is being implemented within the framework of the existing architectural concept of the air terminal, which is based on the UNDER ONE ROOF principle: a single terminal allows the most efficient use of the transfer potential of the airport complex. New terminal facilities will be introduced in the eastern part of the terminal.

This project opens up new service opportunities for guests air harbor. The new segment of Domodedovo passenger terminal capacity for about 100 check-in counters, placing more self-40 stalls. Also planned furnishing additional aircraft parking, boarding bridges involving the operation, including passenger superliner type Airbus A380.

Passenger terminal Domodedovo is the largest in Russia object, made with the use of glass on a polygonal (multifaceted) structure: the facade of the building is an expressive aesthetic solution that will be developed in the construction of a new segment of the terminal. The architectural appearance of the Domodedovo terminal, familiar to millions of travelers from all over the world, will acquire new features. One of these features will be an atrium in the zone of controlled access of passengers: the round part of the gallery with a glass dome, along the perimeter of which will be located business rooms, various cafes, bars, restaurants and duty-free shops.

Engineering systems of the new passenger terminal of Domodedovo segment developed in line with global trends. The use of advanced technology and the implementation of modern IT-solutions will ensure the smooth functioning of the most important elements of technological processes air harbor. The project envisages the creation of a fully automated control mechanisms engineering infrastructure.

The new segment of the airport complex will be designed for servicing international passengers: the designed architectural and planning solutions, taking into account the principle of two-level technology, correspond to the current concept of the Domodedovo terminal. This approach allows to avoid the intersection of passenger flows - arriving and departing travelers: entrance groups for them are at different levels of the terminal building, which is also taken into account in the road infrastructure development project, which is also envisaged in the framework of increasing terminal capacities.

Currently, Moscow Domodedovo Airport is the largest air haven in Russia and Eastern Europe in terms of passenger traffic - it is actively implementing a number of major projects aimed at modernizing and expanding the terminal complex, introducing new engineering solutions, as well as being a participant in the federal targeted investment program, Aerodrome infrastructure. All this contributes to the creation of optimal conditions for increasing the mobility of citizens of the country and the opening of new directions in the development of the aviation industry.

Moscow Domodedovo Airport - the largest aviation hub in Russia, in the year the airport handled 2013 30,76 million. People. It is the best airport in Russia and CIS by Skytrax. Domodedovo chosen for flights to Moscow by members of the world's leading airline alliance - Star Alliance and oneworld.
