Minsk Automobile Plant (MAZ) confidently confirms its status as a flagship in the production of modern passenger vehicles, presenting the new MAZ 303E23 electric bus - a 100% allied product developed in close cooperation with Russian engineers from the Itelma Group of Companies.

Import substitution and technological independence

This step became possible due to the close integration of efforts and an active course towards import substitution, which is especially relevant in the context of the sanctions introduced in 2021. The new MAZ electric bus is not just a vehicle, but a symbol of technological independence and effective industrial partnership between Belarus and Russia.

The design of the electric bus began in 2019 as part of the strategy for the transition to electric urban transport. Already in the new version of the MAZ 303E23 electric bus, the manufacturer took into account all the features of operation in megacities such as St. Petersburg, including climatic conditions, traffic flows and passenger comfort requirements.

Full localization of production

The key advantage of this model is 100% localization: the electric bus is assembled exclusively from components produced in Russia and Belarus. MAZ is responsible for the production of the body, front axle, aluminum profiles, plastic elements, interior parts, glazing, seats, electrical equipment, steering, braking system, as well as for the production of telematics and climate control modules and all MAZ spare parts.

The Russian company OOO SAE is responsible for the creation and production of the power plant. It consists of a 150 kW traction electric motor and lithium-nickel-manganese-cobalt-oxide batteries with a capacity of 440 kW h. This allows the electric bus to travel up to 250 km without recharging, which makes it possible to charge it at night and do without expensive daytime charging infrastructure. In terms of mileage and efficiency, the electric bus is not inferior to diesel analogues.

Revolution in digital systems and technological autonomy

The electric bus has a multi-service transport platform from Transtelematica Service Center LLC, which includes a cashless payment system, passenger counting, the Talking City system for people with disabilities, video surveillance and information panels. This is not just a modernization, but a revolution in urban transport, improving the accessibility and safety of travel.

Engineers of the Minsk Automobile Plant have developed software for electric bus control for the first time, which is an important step towards technological autonomy and competitiveness of Belarusian products. The use of our own software and localized MAZ spare parts allows us to reduce the cost price and increase reliability.
