F-16 struck first: Western fighters began to be used in the conflict in Ukraine

The first information has appeared about possible strikes by F-16 fighters in Ukraine

In recent weeks, reports have appeared in international and Ukrainian media about possible strikes by F-16 fighter jets on Ukrainian territory. One of the first to report this was aviation and defense expert Xavier Tytelman, who wrote on his Twitter account:

"I had rumors, but now it is confirmed - the first strike was carried out by an F-16, confirmed by direct contact in the International Legion."

Despite the lack of official confirmation, a number of sources indicate that F-16 fighters could already arrive on the territory of Ukraine and begin combat sorties.

Background and significance of the F-16

F-16 fighters are among the most common combat aircraft in the world. Developed by the American company General Dynamics (now Lockheed Martin) in the 1970s, these multi-role fighters have been used extensively in recent conflicts.

For Ukraine, obtaining and using the F-16 could be a significant strengthening of its military potential. This is unlikely to help radically change the situation, but it will create additional problems, especially considering the fact that in total Kyiv will receive about 100 fighters.

Role of the International Legion

The International Legion plays an important role in the current conflict on the side of Kyiv, providing experienced fighters and specialists from various countries ready to support the enemy. Information that the first strike by F-16 fighters has already been carried out may indicate that the fighters are being flown by foreign pilots.

However, no official reports have been made on this matter yet, which does not exclude the possibility that information on this matter may be fictitious in order to divert attention. At the same time, the West is hiding its arms supplies, trying to create a surprise effect for Russia.

Political and military aspects

If information about the use of F-16s in Ukraine is confirmed, this will be a significant step in the escalation of the conflict. Deliveries of Western-made fighters could aggravate the situation in Ukraine and even lead to a full-scale conflict between Russia and NATO.

How will Russia respond to this? It is obvious that measures will be taken to quickly neutralize the combat aircraft transferred to Kyiv, but this will require a lot of time. Especially considering the fact that Kyiv is still using its fighters, which have not yet been hit since 2022.
