The development of passenger aircraft Fairchild F-27 1952 started in the year, thus, aeronautical engineer from the United States sought to create a first-class civil aircraft, able to transport up to 52 passengers on regional air routes length to 2660 kilometers.

The first flight of the aircraft Fairchild F-27 was implemented 24 November 1955 year, however, initially the model aircraft for its flight performance did not satisfy the management of the aircraft manufacturer, which is why the project was sent back for revision, which was still almost three years, and only in 1958 year the aircraft was sent to mass production.

The cabin of the Fairchild F-27 passenger aircraft can accommodate up to 52 passengers on board, which, in its essence, allows air travel only on local and regional routes. Initially, it was also supposed to carry out the release of the cargo version of the aircraft, however, due to the lack of actual demand for this, and the large amount of fuel consumed, ultimately, it was decided to abandon this idea.

The power plant of the Fairchild F-27 aircraft is represented by two Rolls-Royce Dart RDa.7 Mk 532-7L turboprop aircraft engines, which, in aggregate, can develop a thrust of 4600 hp, which allows air travel at speeds of about 435 km / h. (cruising speed). One of the most negative aspects of this power plant is a fairly large volume of consumed fuel, although in fact the reliability of this aircraft is quite acceptable - according to the results of investigations of aircraft accidents, most of them were caused not by the technical features of the aircraft, but by other factors, including and weather conditions, pilot errors, etc.

Despite the more than 60-year history of this aircraft, the aircraft continues to be operated by a number of international airlines, in particular, as of the end of 2014, the aircraft was used by Canadian, Mexican and Argentine air carriers, but in very limited quantities.

Subsequently, based on the model of Fairchild F-27 was created a modified version of the aircraft, was reborn as a separate model, which is both passenger and cargo, which greatly increased the efficiency of the operation of these aircraft.
