Due to the high maneuverability and the ability to accelerate to high speeds, the Glasair GlaStar aircraft can also be operated as a sports aircraft, although to a greater extent this aircraft has been proven in private use.

The Glasair GlaStar power plant is represented by one Lycoming O-320 piston air-cooled four-cylinder aircraft engine capable of developing a thrust of 160 hp, which in turn allows reaching a maximum flight speed of 274 km / h, with a maximum flight range of up to 2315 kilometers. Among other things, the Glasair GlaStar aircraft can also be equipped with a more powerful piston engine of the Lycoming O-360 model, the working cylinders of which are capable of developing a power of 180 hp, which in turn affects a number of the aircraft's flight performance.
