Hughes TH-55 Osage

Hughes TH-55 Osage - light American training helicopter, took off for the first time in the air in 1956. Designed by Hughes Helicopters for the US Army. Based on it, a civilian version of Hughes 269 was developed. The 269 model helicopter was licensed in Italy by the Breda Nardi company and in Japan by the Kawasaki company. Hughes 300 - An upgraded version of the Hughes 269 helicopter. The first flight took place in August 1984. After the purchase of Hughes Helicopter by Mac Donnell Douglas, the rights to the helicopter were sold to Schweitzer. Helicopters with 1983 produced under the name Schweizer 300C and 300CB. Schweizer at 2004 is acquired by Sikorsky Aircraft. A helicopter from February 2009 is produced as Sikorsky S300C. The helicopter is widely used as a training in civil and military flight schools and general aviation.

The helicopter is made by single-rotor scheme. It has a steering screw. Truss fuselage of steel tubes. Three-blade main rotor, three-hinged blade mount. Double blade tail rotor, aluminum tube as tail boom. Piston engine HIO360D1A (mounted several modifications), carburetor in the model 300CB, injection in the SBi. The mechanical control of the helicopter is absent in the control circuit hydraulic system. The cabin is triple or double (in the first case, a removable seat is placed for the passenger between the right and left seats). The dual control version is made for flight training. The helicopter can be equipped with inflatable floats to take off from the water.
