And again about the rotorcraft

On the Internet, I accidentally went to the rotorcraft N.I. Kamov Ka-24.

Presumably, the Ka-24 was not suitable for basing on ships due to its excessive dimensions of the transverse scheme, and for use in the land version it was rather weak, since its small-diameter ship rotors (15,2 m) did not produce the required thrust (TV2 engines -117). But the speed characteristics and range of the rotorcraft are impressive: maximum speed 380 km / h; cruising speed 335 km / h; range = 700 - 1150 km. For comparison, the cruising speed of the Mi-8 with the same 2 engines = 225 km / h, the flight range is 365 - 670 km.

The rotorcraft have fuel tanks in the wings, which already reduces drag, as does the absence of a tail rotor. Today, a single rotor rotorcraft based on the Mi-38 helicopter with modern TV7-117 engines will have a cruising speed of at least 360 km / h. with the same carrying capacity (in more detail in the previous article). 

A single-rotor rotorcraft is more compact and more maneuverable than a twin-rotor one, so it will be most used in the Army.

But transverse helicopters have a higher carrying capacity, because their rotors receive full engine power, so their main application will be in Civil Aviation, especially in the Arctic, Arctic, Siberia and the Far East. Well, for example:

The transverse helicopter V-12 (Mi-12) was built by the outstanding designer M.L. Milem on the basis of 2 Mi-6 helicopters with a carrying capacity of up to 25 tons. (record - 44t).

But M.L. Miles left this world early and after him they stopped working on this giant. The new general designer M.N. Tishchenko offered the military instead of the B-12 a more compact Mi-26, which had a payload of 5 tons. less, although the cost significantly exceeded the cost of the B-12. But in Soviet times, cost was not the main criterion for adopting a helicopter, and compactness prevailed - the Mi-26 was launched into series.

And in the plans of M.L. Milya already then was a modernized Mi-12M with 2 D-30V engines with a capacity of 20.000 hp each. He was supposed to carry a load weighing 25 tons over a distance of 500 km, and weighing 40 tons. - 200 km.

M.L. Mil seemed to be specially designing future helicopters for the Arctic, but did not have time. I suppose that with the new engines the cost of the Mi-12M would be equal to the cost of the Mi-26, while if on about. Boiler house Mi-26 transported cargo of 13 tons, the Mi-12M would carry 25 tons. But something else is surprising: the American helicopter designer S. Sikorsky saw the prospect of the Mi-12 helicopter, and the Russian government is still developing the Arctic on the ruinous Mi-26. Apparently, the leaders of the Kremlin got this muddiness in thinking from E. Gaidar, when any financial shortcomings in the country can be compensated by the sale of the natural resources of our State, in particular oil and gas!

I do not call for the resurrection of the V-12, but it was long ago possible to build a transverse helicopter on the basis of the Mi-26, which with the same 2 engines would carry not 13 tons each. cargo, and 20 tons each. and at a speed not of 260 km / h, but at a speed of = 360 km / h. In addition, at present, helicopter rotor control systems have been improved and instead of the antediluvian complex rockers with long metal rods, electro-remote systems are installed.

And they continued to introduce the Mi-26 into operation, but "for complete happiness" it was hampered by the Mi-6 helicopter, which was especially in demand in the oil and gas industry in the early 2000s. flights to these helicopters were prohibited. Almost 20 years have passed since then, but the niche of Mi-6 helicopters is still not occupied. Yes, it could not be otherwise, since after the Mi-26, more precisely since 1980 of the last century, from the design bureau of the MVZ, there are no new products in helicopter construction at all.It is difficult to guess: is this deliberate sabotage or just an inability to design and build modern helicopters? For example, to replace the Mi-6, it was possible to create a transverse helicopter, only instead of 2 D-25V, which have not been produced for a long time, it can be made with 4 TV3-117 (VK-2500) engines of the B-12 type, and today with TV7-117 engines, which will be even safer.

But the general designers of the cost center switched to the modernization of Soviet helicopters and "The rotary-wing direction of the domestic aviation industry lives on the modernization of the Soviet legacy" (//vpk-news.ru/ Smirnov Valery November 15, 2021).

So, the combat Mi-24 was equipped with a non-retractable landing gear and the helicopter became known as the Mi-35. On the Mi-8, additional fuel tanks were hung on the sides, and frames for missiles were put into production, it seems to me, under the motto: "Long live the progress of Russia!"

And the government media remind us that V.V. Putin has lifted Russia from its knees! This is so, except for the helicopter industry, where the opposite is true. For example, a very promising project of the Ka-92 high-speed transport helicopter was torpedoed by the Mi-X1 pseudo-project,

that only memories and drawings were left of him! Moreover, the freezing of the Ka-92 and Ka-102 projects, by and large, turned out to be a clue that in a dozen years the helicopter design bureaus themselves, once the best in the world, will also be destroyed. And today, for greater importance, the remnants of these design bureaus were combined into a kind of "NCV":

It’s hard to understand what the big manager has said here, but without an interpreter it’s clear that the merger was for the good of the United States and to the detriment of Russia! Americans should be infinitely grateful to the Kremlin government for such a gift:

now the global helicopter market is completely under their control, and in the near future they will equip their army aviation with high-speed helicopters, the tests of which have come to an end.

As is known, our projects of this kind have been mothballed. And tightly! In any case, with this government. And if these developments were launched on time, more precisely in 2009, then today our pilots would already be retraining on the Ka-92 and Ka-102. Moreover, especially for the paratroopers, a compact, maneuverable and thrust-armed coaxial helicopter Ka-32-10AG was invented! But it wasn’t it: our paratroopers are still flying and landing from the clumsy and gnarled Mi-35 and Mi-8 storm.

Justifying this technical conservatism, which is very dear for the State, or rather deep stagnation, the government media are trying to inspire us about the “fantastic” capabilities of these helicopters:

At demonstration exercises - YES! But in a real war in Syria, tanks were destroyed and are destroyed only from Ka-52 helicopters! And in the same place, in the war in Syria, the Mi-28N helicopters, unable to withstand the combat load, fell one after the other without external influence on them; the third was the Mi-24P, which fell due to old age; The 4th was the Mi-35, in which the rocket exploded in the region of the tail rotor and it crashed uncontrollably to the ground, killing the crew! In total, six high-class experienced pilots died from these “hard landings” in Syria! Helicopters are not subject to restoration!

To these disasters, one should add one more, when the Mi-8 was shot down from the ground and five more officers were killed:

In war, do not forget that the bullet is a fool and does not recognize any electronic protection, as well as heat traps. But there is protection from it too: height! For example, a heavy machine gun or 23 mm. anti-aircraft guns are capable of hitting an aircraft up to an altitude of 1500m. And at low altitude, a helicopter with a tail rotor can be shot down even with a Kalashnikov assault rifle, and first of all - along the tail boom, because a shaft xv passes through it. screws, and the beam itself is experiencing very heavy loads from the hv. screws both for breakage and torsion, so it is always ready to break off at the earliest opportunity!

On the contrary, the coaxial Ka-50 was completely shot off in a test flight. the beam along with the tail unit and it is at a speed of up to 200 km / h. returned to base and landed safely.

Conclusions on the disaster:

1. Stop flying on combat missions according to the old method and after completing the assigned mission, return to the base by another route and at a safe altitude, in this case, above 1500m. over a hill (the pilots know the hills along the route). And the main thing:

2. Nowadays, pilots must fly on modern helicopters, which are easier to control, more powerful, faster and safer in design.

Let's say, perform this flight on a Ka-92 helicopter, the crew, having unloaded the humanitarian cargo, after takeoff, would vigorously gain a safe altitude (for example, 3000m) and arrive at the base without incident, especially when the flight was performed over an area under control "Jabhat al-Nusra". And by now aircrafts reach MANPADS already at altitudes up to 3000m, so the altitude will have to occupy 4000-5000m, at which the Ka-92 will also have the most economical flight!

And just get from the same machine gun into a helicopter flying at a speed of 230 km / h. much easier than in a helicopter at a speed of 430 km / h. Nowadays, children are already familiar with this axiom, but the Kremlin rulers will not understand this simplicity! The reason is UNCERTAINABLE!

Along the way, I will note that neither the National Economy nor the Army has long been in need of the dense Mi-8 and Mi-24 helicopters, but a strange thing:

with the Kremlin's connivance, the general designers of the cost center made some "stuffed" out of these helicopters and, periodically dressing them in different "clothes", present this misunderstanding to us as the last word in technology.

the crew of this helicopter was incredibly lucky: the tail rotor did not fail in flight, but during taxiing and the helicopter demolished the pole with its tail boom, and only the helicopter itself required "minor" repairs.

But in general, as it was, it is the Mi-8, no matter how many fuel tanks and farms for hanging missiles were hung on its sides. Only one thing is clear: the more something is hung on the sides, the greater its drag. And the greater the drag, the lower the speed with the flight range and the greater the fuel consumption.

But the coolest at the cost center "modernized" the old Mi-24: they managed to "change" it into a high-speed Mi-24LL with a promise to get a speed of 450 km / h on it. Yes, and only "managed" to overclock up to 400k / h, while there is no documentary evidence of this. And it WILL NOT BE: the "high" speeds of this helicopter remained in their native distant past!

And it remains for me to remind (for the umpteenth time) about the Ka-92 high-speed helicopter, which was first shown in 2009:

Putin was given a working table of the Ka-92 model during a short visit to MAKS. Chief designer of the plant. Kamova Sergey Mikheev said that development will take at least 8 years. They want to start the first tests in 2014. Manufacturer: JSC Ukhtomsk Helicopter Plant named after N.I.Kamova (OKB "Kamov") " (fishki.net/2213010-ka-92).

And a very important statement by V.V. Putin:

Do not add, do not subtract! But moving on to helicopters - again, bewilderment:

The Ukhtomsk plant and the coaxial helicopter plant in Kumertau have been destroyed! Projects of modern helicopters are mothballed! At the very first exhibition of the Ka-92 project, the Americans copied its scheme, and then it's a matter of technology! More precisely, it is a matter of time, which the Kremlin government has provided them in abundance, depriving the development of these helicopters, which are very necessary for our country, of financing. It is clear that the Americans used the time presented to them with a victorious advantage, having come to the end of the tests of the high-speed shock-reconnaissance S-97 with Vcr. = 407 km / h. and transport SB-1 Defiant, which developed a speed of 460 km / h.

And we have nothing to oppose, despite the fact that our high-speed helicopters could already be in operation today, then show the government (2009) state care for them! The prospects of these coaxial helicopters are obvious not only for the Air Force, but also in civil aviation, where they will undoubtedly be more cost-effective than classical helicopters.

And even after such a long stagnation in the helicopter industry, even attempts to lift the helicopter industry "from their knees" are not visible from the holding's managers?

By the way, now it will take the same amount of time to resurrect these projects as government ones, excuse the expression, “effective” managers gave the Americans.

Therefore, right today, without delaying time, it is necessary:

To our brilliant helicopter designer S.V. Mikheev to create all conditions for acceleration in the development of modern helicopters, financing it in full, the benefit of money from the holding "V.R." - "chickens do not peck":

in 2019 they sponsored the anniversary concert of A. Pugacheva, throwing government money on it = 40 million. rubles! And today: The State Theater of Nations on December 9-11 will present the premiere of The Master and Margarita directed by Robert Lepage. PJSC UAC will sponsor the theater in the amount of 20 million rubles for the implementation of the production ”(//news.rambler.ru/).

2. Because coaxial high-speed projects will take a lot of time, then in parallel it is necessary to start developing single-rotor rotorcraft for the Army and helicopters with transverse rotorcraft for Civil Aviation, the development and launch of which will take much less time, because their development will be carried out on the basis of serial helicopters.

It is necessary to entrust these developments to the designers of helicopter plants, in particular, to the designers of the Kazan helicopter plant.

As for the designers of the cost center, after 1980 of the last century they filled up all the projects: Mi-X1, "Rachel" and Mi-24LL. Yes, and at what money:

The helicopter is likely to have a mass of 12-13 tons and in the long term can become a replacement for the existing Mi-8/17.

The debut of the project took place during the world aerospace show "Farnborough-2012" in the UK "(//vpk.name/news/).

As you can see, huge money was spent on their projects, and the return = 0: there is no "Rachel" to replace the "existing Mi-8/17", just as there is no money! And even more so in the future there will be no PBV instead of a high-speed attack helicopter from the Kamov company, but, in the language of the 90s: the main thing is to “cut the loot”!

And here is a confirmation of this:

S.V. Mikheev closed this issue back at the competition in the fall of 2018.

And I remember one more dirty trick from the holding: in order to change the "shape" of the light Ka-115 helicopters, an auto designer from Italy was invited to the VRT500, so for today I heartily recommend Mr. A. Boginsky to concretize the "external forms of promising helicopters", invite a Russian shoemaker - he will draw you such a fast-moving helicopter that the American designers will burst with envy!

And again about the classics. Helicopter of the native scheme of the Mi-38 gen. the designers of the KB MVZ managed to finish building it after the Kazan residents for as much as 30 years, and even then, during bench tests, the main gearbox collapsed, for the revision of which they received an additional 1,1 million rubles from the government of D. Medvedev. rubles. Not bad!!!

Of course, one should stay away from such designers and there is no doubt that Kazan designers will cope with such a task, but on condition that amateurs who have come to aviation will not put a spoke in their wheels, starting with the Minister of Industry D. Manturov.

Hence the disappointment with the meeting in the Kremlin V.V. Putin with A. Boginsky, when he did not hear from the President himself "a huge number of plans" to return the helicopter power to its former greatness:

“On NOV 8, the President, at a meeting with A. Boginsky, emphasized that in Russia“ the helicopter industry has traditionally always developed. We have always been rightfully proud of our helicopter industry, ”he added, noting that 100 thousand Russian helicopters ”.

Let me clarify: not Russian, but Soviet helicopters!

And why did the author of the article get high when he wrote about the release of 30 pieces on the UU-UAZ of the Ka-24 rotorcraft. And the topic of the rotorcraft was raised in the 70s under the name KA-35.
