Helicopter model Ka-60 is a multipurpose device produced in Russia, which was originally to be used for military purposes, namely the carriage of weapons and ammunition in the pockets of the military conflict. Also, it relied exploration and rescue operations. He served as an excellent vehicle for the training of pilots. A further development it has found application in civil aviation.

History of the Ka-60

The design of Ka-60 was started back in the USSR from the year 1983. At this time, there were many models and modifications of Mi helicopters, which filled all the spheres of civil aviation and satisfied the needs of the army. Despite the fact that Mil helicopters had a large carrying capacity, it became their lack of transportation of goods up to two tons, because it was economically unprofitable. Most of the cargo was transported by Mi-4 helicopters, but they were withdrawn from production, and this served as an incentive for creating a more economical helicopter with the qualities and characteristics needed at that time.

To solve this problem, a decree was issued in the summer of 84 on the creation of a machine that could transport cargo at high speed at any time of the day. Competition for designing was won by Kamov's office. This machine was supposed to carry loads over the battlefield. The outline design of the Ka-60 helicopter was ready in 1990, the first car was built only in 97 year. Such a long time for the construction of the car was due to the collapse of the Union and insufficient funding for the project. The first presentation of the device took place in the middle of the summer 1998 year on the territory of the company Kamov. For its appearance, it was called "Kasatka". The helicopter made the first takeoff from the launch site in the winter of the same year. For more complete tests, another helicopter was manufactured.

Orcas production planned for helicopter plant in Ulan-Ude, but eventually they began to produce in the city of Lukhovitsy near Moscow. The Russian Defense Ministry has made an order for the production of 100 helicopters of this model, mass production scheduled to begin in 2015 year.

Features Ka-60

The first feature is the fact that the helicopter was manufactured by a single-rotor scheme that is unusual for the Kamov bureau. This scheme was chosen in order to provide greater cargo cabin of the helicopter, and a fairly high speed flight. The latter was also obtained by the use of new technologies for the manufacture of the rotor and blades, which differ in different aerodynamic flight. To reduce the weight of the blade-Ka 60 made of composite materials, which, in turn, are significantly longer.

The new machine has an elongated body, which increases its streamlined. Better aerodynamics contributes to the fact that the helicopter can put the chassis. A new feature is also the tail rotor, which is located in the annular channel at the tail. It is this structure of the tail rotor was selected due to the fact that most of the time will be in the helicopter forward flight, and do not hang in the air.

Application and design of Ka-60

As mentioned earlier, the main task of the helicopter is a military cargo transport on the battlefield. But it can perform the functions of rescue, medical, patrol, reconnaissance vehicle. Ka-60 also used for training pilots and transport VIPs.

This unit has improved the safety performance of the use of a large number of composite materials, as well as due to the fact that all of the "Orca" duplicated. The helicopter is equipped with wheel chassis that ensures effective energy absorption during landing. For a smooth and comfortable landing a helicopter equipped with a shock-absorbing seats passengers and pilots. The helicopter has a system which help to reduce its visibility in the infrared spectrum.

The forward fuselage cockpit is placed, and the middle part of the machine is represented as a power circuit housing unit. The middle section is located cargo compartment, which has doors on each side, in the same department and placed fuel tanks. In addition, this part of the body of the helicopter powerplant is mounted and the chassis.

This structure body is made of a plurality of composite materials, which are fastened to the joists. The tail trimmer apparatus in many parts made of composite materials. The beam is designed for the monocoque scheme. Gargrot attached to the beam, it is the transmission shaft, which drives the tail rotor.

Model helicopter Ka-60 operates a pilot, and his place is on the right side, which distinguishes it from all domestic models. This part of the pilot has been chosen for the pilot to his left hand to work with monitors that show the operation of the systems. And on the right side of the pilot placed lever machine. Training machine of this type has a paired control system.

The tail assembly Ka-60 is a fixed stabilizer at the end of which are mounted stabilizing surfaces, which are represented by special washers. Kiel tail and tail rotor made separate monolithic module that can be attached to the tail boom using the docking frames. Keel cars made of new composite materials, but they are fixed to the inner frame of the machine.

Chassis helicopter of this type consists of three supports: two front (core) and a tail. The front supports are made of a lever system, they are equipped with braking systems. The rear landing gear is made by telescopic scheme and it is not equipped with brakes. The whole system of the chassis of this machine is aimed at silencing vibrations and shocks when landing, and even intended to land at a rate of vertical descent in 6 m / s.

Power plant Ka-60 represented by a pair of gas turbine engines RD-600V models that have been developed by designers Rybinsk Office, which deals with Motors. To start the power plant there is an auxiliary engine type AI-9. All of these units power plant located above the main cabin of the machine in a special gondola and attached to the fuselage. In this construction, also posted the main gear unit and gearbox drives.

All helicopter fuel stored in four tanks, into which fits 1120 liters, they are located in the floor of the cargo compartment. All tanks are interconnected by pipes, which can be done pumping fuel, and propulsion fuel falls by electric fuel pumps centrifugal circuit. In the stretch, or for long-distance flights it is possible to install an additional two external fuel tanks, which can put more 390 liters.

The main propeller has five blades, which prevent the occurrence of noise. Due to the elaborate optimization engine speed screw emits significantly less noise. The blades of both propellers made of strong composite materials. For the blades were thought out system that prevents them from ice. The tail rotor is enclosed in the annular channel type screw itself represented a fan, which is equipped with blades 11. It has a control system which alters the inclination angle of the screw.
