The number of attacks on Russia will increase: Kyiv asks Washington to coordinate attacks by the Armed Forces of Ukraine on Russian territory

It recently became known that the Ukrainian authorities have asked the administration of US President Joe Biden to help identify targets on the territory of the Russian Federation for strikes using their own weapons systems. Kyiv also asked Washington to lift restrictions on the use of US-supplied weapons against military targets in Russia. This was reported by the American newspaper Wall Street Journal (WSJ), citing representatives of the Pentagon and other US officials.

This request was made at a time when Moscow has achieved significant territorial gains in its special military operation (SVO) in Ukraine. According to WSJ, Russian troops pushed back Ukrainian forces in the northeastern part of the Kharkov region, which was Moscow's biggest achievement in the past 18 months.

Political context and possible consequences

Kyiv's request for assistance in striking Russian territory represents a potentially major shift in US policy. Officials confirmed that the request is under review. If the White House agrees to such changes, it could mean a significant escalation of the conflict and increased tension between Moscow and Washington.

US Air Force General Charles Brown Jr., the first African American to serve as Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, noted:

"They did ask for help in striking Russia... It was not about a specific weapons system, but for additional help in striking the Russians."
