Russian designers have designed a fighter, which was designated as the MiG-1.44. He himself is a multi-functional front-line of the new generation of the car.

It was made as a response to plane F-22, Which was created by American designers, but the domestic machine had better characteristics. The most important difference and dignity of the domestic fighter was that it was planned to install new engines that changed the thrust vector. This device was equipped with new stealth technologies. The peculiarity of the machine was that all weapons were placed in the middle of the hull. To hide the aircraft in flight, the designers equipped the body with a radio-absorbing coating that had an uneven surface, which made the device less noticeable for enemy radars.

Design of the fighter began in 1979, in the framework of the project "fighter 90-x". At the beginning of the year 81 have developed requirements and recommendations for the creation of a new fighter. The new machine had to have a circuit design on the "duck" type, and the wings should have a triangular shape with a large number of surfaces that are positioned at different angles. At the same time the structure of the wing must have excellent aerodynamic qualities at different flight speeds and performing maneuvers.


The development project is actively engaged with 83, in Mikoyan Design Bureau. At the start of designing complex development was approved by all parts of the machine. In the middle of the year 1987 defended the project MiG-1.44, and the protection of the machine layout has been carried out in four years. After all approvals management MiG-1.44 has received the designation "MFI", which meant that the new machine is a multi-purpose fighter, which is to carry out combat missions on the front.

This project did not find the further development and did not get into production because preference is given to the fighters of other EDO. The project of the MiG-1.44 99 was closed in the year. At that time I was only one unit is ready, and four were in the process of manufacture. To date, there is only one copy of the flight, which is especially necessary to nobody. In 2013, this car was in the open air on the territory of the Gromov Flight Research Institute. At the moment the airplane is conserved and placed in the hangar.


Together with the production of the MiG-1.44 was designing a scout ship and on the basis of a fighter plane. On the basis of the MiG-1.44 it was manufactured aircraft for static tests, which had the designation 1.42.
