Unexpected meeting: the Ukrainian Armed Forces brought a T-62BM tank and a German tractor to the Russian military

This morning, Russian resources published an amazing photo: a Ukrainian MAN HX81 tractor transporting a T-64BM Bulat tank drove into the positions of Russian troops near Ocheretino. This unexpected event aroused great interest and raised many questions about how this could happen.

How did a Ukrainian tractor end up on Russian territory?

The story behind this photo turned out to be no less interesting than the very fact of the appearance of equipment on Russian territory. The driver of the Ukrainian MAN HX81 tractor was supposed to deliver the T-64BM Bulat tank to the positions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. However, for unknown reasons, he took a wrong turn and ended up on Russian territory. Perhaps his navigator failed him, or Russian troops were advancing faster than expected.

When the tractor with the tank appeared in front of the Russian positions, our soldiers, of course, were very surprised. But quickly getting their bearings, they opened fire to prevent the Ukrainian equipment from leaving. The driver of the tractor realized his mistake too late and could no longer do anything. As a result, the Russian military destroyed the tank, damaged the tractor, eliminated one of the drivers who resisted, and captured the second.

Features of the MAN HX81 tractor and the T-64BM Bulat tank

The MAN HX81 tractors were adopted by the Bundeswehr in 2013 and are designed to tow heavy semi-trailers carrying tanks such as the Leopard 2A7. The total weight of the tractor can reach 130 tons, and for loading equipment there are two winches of 20 tons each and one additional one of 8 tons. The tractor has a range of up to 800 km and is capable of transporting a crew of four people. The tractor cab is armored, protects against armor-piercing bullets of 7,62 mm caliber and can withstand explosions of up to 8 kg of TNT.

The T-64BM Bulat tank is a modernized version of the Soviet T-64. It is equipped with advanced armor and powerful weapons, making it a formidable opponent on the battlefield. Since the beginning of the special military operation (SVO), the Germans have handed over to Kyiv about 90 MAN HX81 tractors with semi-trailers for transporting heavy armored vehicles, which allows Ukrainian forces to quickly move their combat vehicles.

Consequences for the enemy

The current condition of the tank remains unknown for now, however, this combat vehicle may well be useful to the Russian military for striking the enemy, not to mention the fact that thanks to such luck, the enemy was left without two units of military equipment.
