Quite ironic that the first attempt of the NAA, which had later a great experience creating successful fighters, such as the "Mustang» (Mustang) and "Sabre» (Sabre -sablya), in the field of fighter aircraft was a simple NA-50. In fact, low-cost fighter, created on the basis of the successful development of the company - training aircraft NA-16, was designed for small air force, who did not have any cash, no operating experience of the latest fighter-monoplanes, coming from Europe and the United States.

Used as a basis double training aircraft, the designers of NAA reduced the number of seats to one, made the chassis a retractable, installed a more powerful engine R-1820 of "Wright" in place of the engine R-985-11 same manufacturer and armed fighter two machine gun 7,62 mm (0,3 inches).

In response to the order placed Peru in January 1938 years, it was built only seven aircraft NA-50. Used in the battles against Ecuador in 1941, the last copies of the aircraft were finally decommissioned almost 20 years later. Modification NA-68 was very similar to the plane NA-50 (bonnet had a greater length, the new wing tips and tail and 20-mm cannon in addition to machine guns 7,62 mm (0,3 inches)). The Royal Air Force of Thailand in 1939 year ordered six of these aircraft for delivery in 1941 year.

However, Thailand was occupied by Japan until the aircraft, so Air Force requisitioned them at the service (podoboznacheniem P-64) as a training aircraft fighter. The only aircraft P-64 lived up to 1990-ies, and occasionally flies from its base in Oshkot (Oshkosh).
