Description and types of aircraft and helicopters of the Swedish Air Force

Swedish Air Force designation of the aircraft is made up of letters and numbers that define the class of aircraft and type number assigned at the conclusion of the contract with the company to design the aircraft.

The following letters are used to indicate the class of aircraft:

• J - fighter;
• A - attack;
• B - bomber;
• S - reconnaissance aircraft.

If you make any changes in aircraft design to its designation letter is added, determining the modification (change). modification number is determined by the sequence number of the letters in the Latin alphabet.
