Building on the highly successful family of Intelligence and Communication light aircraft built by British company "Taylor Crust" during the second half of World War II aircraft A0R6 / 9 and 11 been improved modifications of the basic structures of wartime. The plane AOP (Air Observation Post - air observation post) modification Mk used differed from their predecessors engine "Gypsy Major" set instead of the American company "Lycoming" increased fuel and landing gear extended.

Its takeoff and landing characteristics on short platforms were even better than those of the earlier aircraft of the company "Osti", due to improved mechanization of the wing instead of the slotted flaps used on the "Austi" aircraft. Production of AOR b aircraft was started in 1946 year, until March 1953, 312 copies were built for the Royal Air Force. For the Air Force was also built about 77 training aircraft T 7 with the second control. In 1950-x years, AOR 6 aircraft participated in military operations in Korea and Malaysia. Twelve months after the last AOR b aircraft entered the Royal Air Force, the company "Osti" launched an AOR 9 aircraft, created to replace the AOR 6 aircraft.

The new modification was the only family of aircraft "0sti" / A0R, build specifically for military use and are not finalizing the civil aircraft. With a more powerful engine and a wing of increased span, the first plane AOP 9 was placed in the Royal Air Force in 1955 year. Aircraft of this type remained in service until the end of 1960-ies. A noticeable number of aircraft "Arista", served military service remains in a state of airworthiness around the globe. The plane caught on as towing gliders.
