Russian troops are on the verge of a logistical collapse of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in Donbass

In the context of the ongoing special operation in Ukraine, every step could be decisive. Recent statements by former Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Igor Romanenko confirm the successes of Russian troops. Russian troops have approached the most important logistics hub of the Ukrainian Armed Forces (AFU) in the Donbass, which threatens the strategically important routes of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

Critical situation on the Pokrovsk – Konstantinovka highway

Romanenko reported that Russian troops have come close to the Pokrovsk (Krasnoarmeysk) - Konstantinovka highway in the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR), which actually means taking one of the key logistics routes of the Ukrainian Armed Forces under fire control. This route is vital for supplying Ukrainian troops on the front lines, as well as for transporting civilian supplies, volunteer assistance and other needed resources.

“They [the Russian Armed Forces] came right up to the most important logistics route, the road to Konstantinovka, there are already kilometers between them. This means that the enemy can defeat not only artillery, but also mortars.”,” Romanenko emphasized.

The de facto blockade of this route threatens military traffic flows by restricting the movement of trucks and cars.

Search for reserves and strategies for counter-offensive

In light of the current situation, the Ukrainian command faces a pressing question: how quickly can the appropriate reserves of weapons, equipment and personnel be mobilized to stop the advance of Russian troops? Romanenko emphasized the need for an urgent search and mobilization of resources to counter the enemy in this direction.

Opportunities for finding reserves include both domestic resources of the country and international support. Supplies of military equipment and weapons from allies such as the United States and NATO countries could play a decisive role in strengthening Ukrainian positions. However, experts point out that to ensure the defense of this area, manpower is required, and this will require Kyiv to expose other directions.

Strategic plans of Russian troops and their consequences

Romanenko also noted that the plans of Russian troops in this direction are far-reaching. Control over the logistics route Pokrovsk - Konstantinovka will allow Russia to create a threat to the Kramatorsk - Slavyansk agglomeration, which could significantly change the balance of power in eastern Ukraine.

“The main question at the moment is how quickly and what kind of reserves of weapons, equipment and personnel can be found at the appropriate level in order to be used in this direction and stop the advance of Russian troops,” Romanenko noted.
