Downed Su-24 in Syria: reverse view of the tragedy.

To date, all the attention of the public is drawn to the case of the destruction of the Turkish air force by the Russian front-line bomber Su-24. The President of the Russian Federation has already reported that Turkey will receive a stiff response for its actions, which in all likelihood will lead to a complete freeze of any political interactions with that country, however, despite the fact that the destruction of the Russian bomber on the territory Syria, and not Turkey, as stated by the Turkish president, there are other circumstances to which attention should be paid.

Oddly enough, but the command of the Russian Aerospace Forces in Syria should be given a real reprimand, and for this there is every reason associated with the ill-considered circumstances of the bombing of the positions of the Islamic State group. The whole point is that Russian front-line bombers flew without adequate cover from fighters, while it is well known that this modification of aircraft is not equipped with means of warning about missile targeting, that is, in fact, the pilots of a Russian combat aircraft hardly knew that the armament of the Turkish F-16 was aimed at their aircraft. In addition, given the fact that the Russian plane was supposed to fly near the borders of another state, the escort of the combat aircraft should have taken place, and it is likely that if this was thought out by the command, then the tragedy and scandal could have been avoided.

At first glance, it may seem that the absence of a cover group is just a coincidence, however, literally a few hours after the destruction of the Russian Su-24 aircraft in Syria, the error repeated itself, while, despite the fact that experts paid little attention to this factor, he died another serviceman of the Russian Federation. In particular, it is worth noting that Mi-8 helicopters, with other servicemen on board, were sent for a search and rescue operation to the place where the co-pilot was supposed to be. It remains unknown why the combat vehicles went to the scene of hostilities without a support group - given the experience of Afghanistan, Mi-8 helicopters were always accompanied by combat Mi-24s capable of suppressing enemy fire. Nevertheless, due to the lack of proper cover, it is assumed that the armed Islamists used the ATGM system and fired a shot at the Mi-8 helicopter, which led to the death of a contract soldier, already mentioned above.

Because such "laxity" of this kind are the bottlenecks that lead to irreparable circumstances, in particular, to express in the deaths of two Russian soldiers and destroying the bomber. It is logical to assume that from now these vulnerabilities are properly addressed, however, if this had been done in advance, then in all likelihood, any fatalities could be avoided altogether.
