Schiebel CAMCOPTER
Camcopter - a multipurpose unmanned aerial vehicle, the creation of the Austrian company Schiebel Elektronische Geräte GmbH. The development of this UAV was carried out at the beginning of the 90-ies. Camcopter is a UAV with a vertical take-off, which is designed for monitoring, target designation, topographic surveying and mining. These objectives were achieved thanks to the installation of a color CCD camera with the ability to transmit video in real time. The unmanned vehicle is controlled from a ground station. The autonomous control system consists of an integrated navigation system that is integrated with the DGPS positioning system.
To accurately determine the location of targets and UAVs, use the information generated by the geographic information system. In 1996, Camcopter UAVs arrived to view and evaluate representatives of the Swedish and Italian Army, the US Marine Corps, and the Israeli Ministry of Defense. One unit bought for the needs of the US Air Force. The first demonstrative flight was made by Camcopter in Fort Benning in 1997. Serial production of this UAV launched with 1998 year.
