LABYRINTH SEALS

Labyrinth seals, rotary and stationary connecting structures that use air pressure differential to form the inner seal. The most commonly used in turbo.

LAMINATED STRUCTURE

Layered construction, formed from layers of composite materials, soedinnenye or vulcanized together to create a sound and light design.

LANDING GEAR

CHASSIS, the front and rear wheels with the connection elements to support the aircraft on the ground.

LANDING GEAR DOORS

LEAF CHASSIS, panels, managed jointly with the chassis to chassis closing compartments, where retractable landing gear.

LANDING WEIGHT

Landing weight, the full weight of the aircraft at the port of arrival or to the alternate airport.

LANYARD

EXHAUST FAL cable to support or hold the panels in the open position.

LAP JOINT

Lap joints, the sheet metal strip to connect the edge of another sheet metal structures in aircraft.

LASER GYRO

Laser gyroscope, gyroscope, which uses two light laser beam to measure the angular rotation.

LATCH

Latches, clamps, a device for clamping or closing.

LATERAL AXIS

Transverse axis, the axis passing through the center of gravity of the aircraft from one wingtip to the other.

LATERAL NAVIGATION

Horizontal navigation, autopilot mode in which the FMCS is used to control the roll of the aircraft in flight.

LEAD ACID BATTERY

Lead-acid battery, electric device for converting stored chemical energy into direct current. Use lead, lead oxide and sulfuric acid.

LEADING EDGE

The front edge, the front edge of the wing, stabilizer or controls.

LED, sm.-LIGHT EMITTING DIODE.

LIGHT EMITTING DIODE

LED, electronic device that lights up in red, yellow or green when it is served on the electric current.

LIGHT PLATE

Light boards, components of the toolbar to highlight words on it.

LIGHT SWITCH

Switch with light indication, circuit breaker, which includes the backlight. The backlight is turned on or, or turned off when the switch is in the OFF or ON.

LIMIT SWITCH

LIMIT SWITCH, mechanically controlled component within the electric control device, which turns off the electrical power to the control mechanism when the control mechanism reaches its open or closed position.

LEMAC

LEMAC, abbreviation for the front edge of the mean aerodynamic chord.

LIFT

Lift force, vertical force, which produces the airflow over the upper and lower wing surfaces.

LIMITATIONS

RESTRICTIONS, aircraft performance and operating limitations listed in the Guidelines for FLIGHT (AFM), such as the maximum air speed, maximum height and center of gravity limits.

LINE REPLACEABLE UNIT

Replacement unit on the line, a unit that can be quickly replaced on the aircraft during operational service on the line.

LINE SELECT KEYS

KEY SELECTION LINE switches FMCS control display, allowing to manage information to and from the "roughing line", as well as for dedicated display areas.

LINEAR VARIABLE DIFFERENTIAL TRANSFORMER

Linear variable differential transformer INDUCTANCE (inductive sensor with differential transformer), a differential transformer with a linear output.

LINK

ROD, a short connecting rod for transmitting movement.

LNAV, SEE - LATERAL NAVIGATION

LOAD AND TRIM SHEET

BALANCE SHEET AND DOWNLOADS, form containing tables and graphs to calculate the weight and balance effect for all items and fuel loaded before each departure.

Localizer, the ILS system component that provides flight control in the horizontal plane to the runway.

LOCALIZER, The component of an ILS which provides lateral course guidance to the runway.

LOCKBOLT

Locking bolts, a steel clamp that prevents unwanted unwinding using crimp sleeve instead of nuts.

LOGIC DIAGRAM, A diagram that uses logic gates to represent the function of a control circuit.

LOGIC, the scheme, which uses electronic logic devices for presentation function electrical control circuit.

LOGIC GATE

LOGIC electronics devices, device or electrical circuit, which has an output signal as long as it is not involved in the work of the input signal There are logic AND, OR, NOT, AND negative, negative, OR, and exclusive OR.

LOGO LIGHT

LIGHT SIGN COMPANY, spot or flood lighting type, located on the aircraft structure and directed to the sign of the airline or other inscription on the fuselage or tail surfaces for visibility in the dark.

LONGERON

MAC, sm.-MEAN AERODYNAMIC CHORD.

LVDT, sm.-LINEAR VARIABLE DIFFERENTIAL TRANSFORMER.

LUBRICANT

Lubricants, a substance used to reduce friction between moving parts. It may be natural and synthetic material.

LOW RANGE RADIO ALTIMETER

Radio altimeter SMALL Range (ACTION), a system that measures the vertical distance between the aircraft and the ground.
