The main object of attack by the US military in the event of a conflict over Taiwan will be Chinese warships, said Kenneth Wilsbach, commander of the US Air Force in the Pacific, at a symposium in Aurora, the Military portal reported.

Wilsbach suggested recalling how the Chinese Navy behaved during the visit of the Speaker of the House of Representatives of the US Congress Nancy Pelosi to Taiwan. Chinese Navy warships were sent east of the island. “It was like a blockade,” Wilsbach explained.

Anti-aircraft missiles on these ships allow the Chinese military to establish a no-fly zone around the island. Therefore, if all measures to prevent a Chinese invasion of the island do not work and it does take place, the first business will need to sink these ships, Wilsbach said. This will be the first task not only of the Air Force in the Pacific, but of any forces that will be involved in the conflict.

Wilsbach reported that his units have recently been practicing a strategy of dispersing vehicles and crews over a large number of islands.
