Belgium and France

A type: single-engine biplane trainer

Crew: Two pilots are arranged one behind the other

The aircraft was designed by De Havilland, a Belgian agent, by Jean Stampe, so it's no surprise that the SV4 is more than DH 82's Tiger Moth. The first flight he made in 1933 year. This training aircraft also had a similar power unit, like its British counterpart, the always reliable engine of 10 by De Havilland, the Gipsy Major. SV4 in the middle of 1930-ies was ordered by both the French and Belgian Air Force, but before the full-scale mass production began, the Stamp plant was captured by the invading German army in May 1940. In 1944, the French manufacturer Nord has revived the plane again, and over the next two years around 70 was built under the designation SV4C.

This machine is different from the pre-war airplane Stampe basically installing engine 4 Pei companies "Renault" engine instead "Majora's Gypsy." Built by the "Nord" planes were divided between GAgtye de L'Air and numerous French summer club. Gene Stamp returned to the business shortly after the end of war in Europe, he founded the company "Stepet Renard» (Stampe et Renard) in Belgium. His new company has fulfilled the order on 65 SV4B aircraft for the Belgian Air Force. In contrast to the French aircraft, these machines have a closed cockpit.

Many output from the BBC SV4 planes were transferred to civilian hands in 1960-ies, preserved from that of planes can still be found today throughout Europe. In the UK alone there are more than 40 aircraft.
